Viz Media’s Anime Expo panel today had some really fun news - the manga Monster: Perfect Edition is on sale early at AX. The final volume of Neon Genesis Evangelion goes on sale 11-20 with simultaneous release in Japan. Finally, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure will have a hard copy release in 2-3-2015 and goes on digital sale this September!

The FUNImation panel at AX was awesome - be sure to check out the upcoming anime Terror in Resonance if you’re a fan of Death Note. Also something to watch for is the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods coming to a theater near you in August and featuring last year’s Kraken Con guest Chris Sabat!

We’re happy to announce the details for vendor and artist registration for Fall Kraken Con 2014!General registration for both artists and vendors will open June 25th at noon (12PM) PST. “Pioneer” registration - available for artists and vendors who have attended both Kraken Con 2013 and Spring Kraken Con 2014 - will open June 17th at noon (12PM) PST. Those eligible for Pioneer registration will receive an email by end of day June 10th; those who don’t receive an email and feel this is an error please contact us at info@krakencon.com right away.Vendor registration is $130 per 8’x8’ space with a maximum of two spaces allowed. Vendor registration includes one covered 8’ table, 2 chairs and 2 passes to Kraken Con. Vendors staying in the Oakland Marriott may opt to receive a $30 rebate per night stayed in lieu of a VIP pass.Artist registration is $60 for an approximately 6’x5’ space and includes one covered 6’ table, 2 chairs and one pass to Kraken Con. Artists may purchase an additional helper pass for $20. Kraken Con is thrilled to announce that author Michelle Gagnon will be joining us at Spring Kraken Con 2014! Michelle is an international bestselling author of thrillers for teens and adults. Her first book in the Persefone series DON’T TURN AROUND has been described as “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” for teens and is an amazing book that you won’t be able to put down (we know: we’ve read it!). Michelle will be presenting a panel and can be found in the Exhibit Hall during specially posted hours.

Kraken Con is excited to announce our Film & Prop Guest, DESCIPLE! You may have seen one of DESCIPLE’s amazing scale creations – Iron Maiden, The Bat Knight or The Crow – at a local event and if you haven’t they’ll be making an appearance with him at Kraken Con! DESCIPLE is also a filmmaker with extensive work in film production and will be presenting a panel “Cosplay Filmmaking 101” as well as exhibiting with his fellow filmmakers (known as THE COLLECTIVE) in the Kraken Con Exhibit Hall!

Kraken Con is thrilled to welcome Margaret Caragan as our FX Makeup Artist Guest! Margaret has eleven years of experience as a Special Makeup Effects Artist in the Bay Area, specializing in casualty and character makeups. She has worked on a ton of amazing projects for TV and film with credits including films The Violent Kind and Fruitvale Station; Animal Planet shows “I Was Bitten” and “I’m Alive“, and our personal favorite – Ganondorf‘s makeup in Smosh’s The Legend of Zelda Rap! She was also a competitor on this season of Syfy Channel’s FaceOff.
